Eri Sakai’s Kentaro Hiyama’s First Pregnancy Manga Gets Live-action Drama on Netflix
Eri Sakai's Hiyama Kentaro no Ninshin / Kentaro Hiyama's First Pregnancy manga will get its live-action dramaadaptation on Netflix in 2022.
The manga was serialized in Kodansha's BE・LOVE monthly magazine in 2012 and compiled in one tankobon volume in the following year. According to the author's Twitter comment, the live-action project was launched over two years ago.
The story is set in a world where ten years have passed since men were able to conceive and give birth. When Kentaro Hiyama, an elite salaryman, becomes pregnant, he witnesses the prejudice the world has against men getting pregnant and giving birth. At first, Hiyama decides to have a baby in order to make a place for himself, but his actions gradually change the people around him and himself.
39-year-old Takumi Saito (Shin Ultraman) is cast as the title character, Kentaro Hiyama, while 34-year-old Juri Ueno (Nodame Cantabile) plays his partner, Aki Seto. Yuko Hakota and Takeo Kikuchi serves as co-director.
The live-action drama Hiyama Kentaro no Ninshin / Kentaro Hiyama's First Pregnancy will be streamed on Netflix worldwide simultaneously in 2022.
